Guitar Back Construction

Inside view of Maccaferri guitar backThe wood for the back and sides is East Indian Rosewood.

The 2 matching pieces were carefully planed along the edges and joined in the centre.

It was then planed, scraped and sanded to thickness before the shape outline was cut.

A reinforcing strip was glued along the centre join.

The struts were carved to make an arch in the back.

There were 4 struts for the back in the plans from Roy Courtnall, but only 3 in the Maccaferri guitar plans from R.F.Charle.

Sorry there aren't more pictures of the back construction, I was busy doing the mundane planing and sanding until there was something to show.
